Louis L. Reed, LADC, AADC

Louis L. Reed, a leading figure in social impact, serves as the Executive Vice President at the Douglass Project. 

After serving 14 years in federal prison, his leadership has supported the passage of 30 legislative bills, notably the First Step Act, creating a pathway to freedom for over 650K people justice-impacted. His prior roles include Senior Executive at REFORM Alliance, National Advocacy and Campaigns Director at Fines and Fees Justice Center, and Director of National Organizing at Dream Corps JUSTICE, where he built a large bipartisan grassroots coalition.

His public service portfolio features leadership in Bridgeport, CT Mayor’s Office for Reentry Affairs, focusing on comprehensive services for individuals impacted by the criminal justice system. Louis has also worked with the Connecticut legislature on reforms expanding access to licenses, limiting asset forfeiture, and enhancing reentry services.

A trustee for the Council of Criminal Justice, member of the Forbes Coaches Council, Founder of Mobilize|365, and Huffington Post contributor, Louis has garnered widespread media attention and accolades, including a 2023 Key to the City of Bridgeport recognition, LA Weekly's 2023 Top 5 People to Follow, 2021 Brigadoon's Top 10 Most Influential People, and 2021 Ebony Magazine Power 100 nomination. Based in Connecticut, he also consults on strategic partnerships, is a consulting producer on Hulu’s "UnPrisoned" series, is featured in Amazon's The First Step documentary, and serves as a guest commentator on the Law & Crime Network.
