Alyssa is a recent graduate of American University. Alyssa holds a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies: Communication, Legal Institutions, Economics, and Government and minored in Spanish Language. During her undergraduate studies, Alyssa participated in the School of Public Affairs Honors Program and completed her capstone research project on judicial selection methods and sentencing outcomes. She also served as a Senior Program Leader, where she mentored first year students residing in living-learning communities.

Alyssa began her work with the Douglass Project as a Fellow in 2024. Now in the role of Outreach Specialist, she connects with community members that may be interested in attending a prison visit, and otherwise supports the operation of the Douglass Project.
