Katy Beiner- Program Associate/Executive Assistant to the President
Katy began her work with the Douglass Project as a Summer Fellow in 2025 and now works as a Program Associate. A 2026 graduate of Georgetown University with a BA in Government and a minor in Spanish language, Katy served as President of Georgetown Students for Prison Justice, through which she worked to integrate educational programming into jails in the DMV and taught her own literature classes at the Arlington County Detention Center. Additionally, she worked as an investigative intern for the Office of the Federal Public Defender, helping compose mitigation materials for sentencing hearings and supporting diversionary efforts. As part of the 2026 Making an Exoneree cohort, she re-investigated a 1990 Florida wrongful conviction case and remains actively involved. In addition to her role as Program Associate, Katy currently works as the Executive Assistant to Marc Howard and as a General Project Coordinator at the Georgetown University Prisons and Justice Initiative.
